That has made me well up! I have volunteered for years to support Duke of Edinburgh award expeditions at all the schools I've worked at. The Ten Tors sounds like a whole other level of challenge and it's remarkable that 2,400 teenagers participate. I wholeheartedly agree that these kinds of expedition should be open to all.

That's awesome. Well done! Leo and Kitty both have DofE expeditions next month. Kitty moans about her school backpack being too heavy, so it could be interesting! 🤣

https://www.facebook.com/share/r/16Z4mbVY6h/ This has just popped up on my FB... I'd like to think that it's just coincidence, but having read about the Red Devils at the Ten Tors it seems more likely that AI is at hand. What an absolutely giant flag that was attached to the parachutist!!

Fantastic, it’s clear, reading your posts and books over the years, (I’ve bought and read them all, do I get a badge?) that you and Rachael are great parents giving your children a wonderful start in life. Events like this show you how well you’ve done. Pat on the back to you both, and cheers to Leo.

Thanks Debs. I'm not sure how much credit we can claim. Leo's found himself a great group of friends who are up for stuff like this and some fab teachers.

That challenge sounds incredible. I wish we had something like that in our area for our youth. Thanks for sharing.

We do need lots more of these sort of events. Is the Duke of Edinburgh at all known over in the states? I hadn't realised there was an international version of it until just now.

What an incredible birthday gift, and well done, Leo. As another commenter wrote, it made me well up, too! The event sounds inspiring. It's nice to hear that schools still do these things. Thank you for sharing these snippets of your lives with the rest of us.

I share a birthday with you George - last Sunday was my 46th too. Unfortunately I spent it buying a new washing machine as ours packed up on Saturday! I still had a nice day though and sounds like you did too. Happy belated birthday!

Ah, happy belated birthday to you too!

We got home from Ten Tors and everyone went to bed about 8.30pm. I sat on the sofa on my own with a beer watching Police: Suspect No 1 on channel 5. I think

I would have preferred to have gone washing machine shopping.
