Things I Did This Week

I hope you had a good weekend.

I’ve been busy writing all about my recent cycling adventure with Leo. The first instalment should be out later this week.

Thanks so much for all the lovely feedback on last week’s post about my new Things I Did Yesterday photo diary I’ve been experimenting with.

When Do You Give Up on an Idea?

I genuinely wasn’t expecting so many of you to say you’d like to follow along. If I’d realised there was so much interest, I’d have started sharing them in more places much sooner.

Since the post went out, I’ve been sharing my daily photo diary on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and here on Substack in the Notes feed.

The slight problem is that Notes can be a bit hidden.

You might occasionally get a notification when I post one, but most of the time they simply appear in your feed, which means they're very easy to miss.

I could publish them as normal Substack posts, but that would mean you'd receive an email from me every single day as well as my usual posts, and I think that would get a bit much.

For now, I think that Notes is the best place for them.

If you’ve only ever read my newsletters by email, you might not have spent any time on Substack itself. Whether you use the app or the website, clicking the Home icon gives you a feed of posts and Notes from lots of different writers that Substack thinks you’ll enjoy. My daily photo diaries ‘should’ appear there, but there’s no guarantee they’ll be shown to you.

If you want to see just my updates, head to my Substack page and click the Notes tab. That’s where you’ll find my Things I Did Yesterday photos so you can catch up whenever you like without your inbox becoming clocked with messages from me.

And if you happen to like or comment on one, Substack usually gets the hint that you're interested and starts showing you more of them.

If, after a few weeks, it turns out hardly anyone is finding them, I may start sending a weekly roundup instead.
