A couple of weeks, you say? Could this be a Tour De France adventure? I was just looking up the starting date this morning. Stay as cool as possible.

Good detective work, Michael. There will be bikes. And there will (hopefully, if all goes to plan) be some Tour de France. 🤞

I couldn’t think what it could be but of course the Le Tour !!! Are you off up the Galibier in the style of Podačar or Andy Schleck I wonder ?? Ride down like that awesome Yorkshire lad Tom Pidcock . Exciting times, hope it’s cooler by then. I’m still so sad Lael Wilcox had to abandon her RTW challenge due to heat exhaustion.

No Galibier this year. We are going to the Pyrenees!

I hadn't been following Lael Wilcox. I've just read about it. Looks like she's already planning the next challenge.

Oh we loved the Pyrenees, mind you we went down a climb the Vuelta went up.. they were quicker ! 😅

I'm sure Layla will enjoy her trip to Ireland goat farming. Well done to Kitty on walking 2 miles to school!! Not something many children would do nowadays. You've got a busy summer ahead. Look forward to hearing about your's and Leo's plans.

Jude.

Thanks Jude. Yes, I'm quite envious of Layla's month on a goat farm It looks amazing!

We are really looking forward to all our summer adventures.

Goat farming in Ireland was not on my ‘Things teenagers are interested in’ bingo card! I would offer advice on where to visit but unless it’s within 20 miles of home, I’m not very useful unfortunately.

Goat farming is all the rage with the yoof of today... probably. 🤔

Great to see you've started a Substack. Love it! I'm now a subscriber.

Shit, that’s pressure I could have done without 🤣 Also Thank you 🤙🏻

Hi George, loved it! Ludo has the right idea to keep cool. Enjoy this time (apart from the heatwave) because soon your home will be verrry empty when the bairns have fled the nest……Hope the van gets fixed soon. X PS couldn’t access last week’s as Substack kept sending me codes then said they weren’t correct, never mind, I really enjoyed this week’s xx

Oh no, I think you would have loved last week's video. There was lots of footage of Slapton and Torcross. Were you trying to watch it through the email or in the app? Sorry it didn't work for you.

I wonder if this direct link works....

We’re with you on the above! Since Casper finished GCSEs last year we’ve been lurching from one ‘surprise’ to the next! And there’s ALWAYS someone at home meaning I NEVER get anything done. Also there’s no point making any plans as these are all subject to change depending on the whims of 3 very active teenagers 😂

As usual, a joy to read your posts!

Thanks Diana ❤️

Having two daughters grown and flown, I can say with confidence that you will look back at some point wondering where the years have gone. I was fortunate to have worked from home while my wife homeschooled them and like you I’m grateful for those years together. Hoping the heatwave breaks for you soon, I will be visiting Amsterdam at the end of July and don’t want the same hot weather I’ll be leaving behind!

George Mahood's avatar

Thanks Darren. Yes, already I wonder where the years have gone.

Have a fab time in Amsterdam

You know what this is, George…..it’s preparing you to be an empty nester. Kitty isn’t far behind, and they will all be off to college and their own adventures. Then comes the weddings, grandchildren, and then….you and Rachel time. Then you can sit back and go, “look what we have accomplished!!! We made a family, and three very successful, responsible adults.”

George Mahood's avatar

Thanks Lori. You manage to make that all sound very scary and also very enjoyable at the same time. Which I suppose it probably is? Thank you. ❤️

Thankfully it doesn’t happen all at once. But, it’s all worth it.

You and Rachel have a lot to look forward to in your changing lives!
